I have followed, with interest, the public negotiations between the Saints and the state and feel quite strongly that our governor is not acting in good faith. In my opinion she has a hidden "political agenda" to punish the city of New Orleans to appease her "red neck" North La. constituents.
Her insistence that any Saint's deal must be funded locally by the citizens of Orleans and Jefferson is unprecedented. No other economic development package in the state's history has been handled that way. Yet the entire state benefits from the net proceeds of a Saint's deal.
Ms. Blanco campaigned on a platform of no state money for the Saints, to please her anti-New Orleans supporters.
The Saints are like any other business in the state and should be treated as such. If the Saints generate more revenue than the subsidy they receive then they "must remain" in New Orleans. The economic boost the Saints provide to tourism alone is invaluable.
Keep the Saints or you're a one term governor: Guaranteed!!!

Hey, thanks for the great page, it's a wonderful idea. Hope you get to send all this information to Blanco. I still remember the first Saints game I ever went to. I was 2 years old, and I was obsesses with sports, so my parents brought me. It was against the Houston Oilers in 1987, and I remember at first I wasn't sure who to cheer for, because half of my extended family lived in Houston. As soon as the Saints came out, though, there wasn't a doubt in my mind. I remember thinking to myself how amazing and gigantic the Superdome was. From then on, following the Saints has been my second religion. This city is like any other, we take so much pride in anything we can consider "New Orleans." To us, they are not a just team, they are ours, they are this city. It's the reason that you find yourself watching every week, even when they are having a poor year. It's the reason you can't stop rooting for them if you leave the city and settle somewhere else. I hope Benson and Blanco know this, and I believe truly that they will find a way to keep our boys at home.

To all parties Involved: In keeping abreast of current events
between the state & the Saints. Gov. Blanco & Mr. Benson i am compelled to
send this e-mail to express my feelings as a voting, tax paying citizen of
Houma, LA. I grew up on Saints football, raised my kids on saints football &
am looking forward hopefully to attend saints football games with my
grandchildren.I remember as a youngster the excitement i felt at the
training camp in Thibodeaux, La.seeing Archie Manning up close in uniform &
to speak to him & get his autograph.Having the opportunity to see the same
excitement on my own sons face while he was getting his football signed by
all of his favorite saints the last few training camps they held at Nicholls
State University. Mr.Benson you have always come thru on your vow to keep
our saints in La, first buying the team then endless negotiations to keep
them here. I for one applaud your conviction to keep our team here, & hope &
pray that it will happen again. Gov.Blanco, please hear these voices of all
the voting tax paying citizens of this state with the same background &
hopes to keep our saints in La. New Orleans Saints football has been & still
is an icon to a couple of Generations of football fans. To me a Sunday
afternoon in the fall just would not be complete without a Saints game to
cheer or jeer or laugh or cry. However we choose to celebrate they are our
Saints & we have earned the right to call them ours. So please ensure that
all that can possibly be done is done to KEEP OUR SAINTS HERE!
Sincerely Hoping:
Steve L. (Houma La.)
I
live in Shreveport and am the biggest saints found you'll ever meet,
I buy season tickets every year! I have serveral supporters up here
and we were wondering if you were going to make t-shirts to help get
the message out? If so let me know so I can help buy some to help keep
my saints in Louisiana! I would also like to thank you for putting up
this site. If there is anything I can do to help the cause please let
me know
Thanks
GO SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First, good site. Big undertaking and appreciated by all of the Saints
Fan. I was born and raised in Lockport, LA and have been a Saints fan
from the moment I realized what football was. I've been in the Air Force
for the last 18 years and have lived all over the world except for back
in Louisiana and currently live in Colorado Springs. Never for a moment
have I lost the desire to pull for the Saints or considered switching
teams. Heck even when I was in Europe, I would look for the rugby or
soccer teams with the nickname Saints to root for. If you are from Louisiana,
it is just in your blood. And that is where they need to stay.
